I too was part of the early wave of fibromyalgia diagnoses. It was 1985 and I was 13 years old. I'm grateful to my wonderful doctor at the time, because if not for him, I'm sure I'd have suffered through numerous tests and people telling me it was all in my head for years. As for medical gaslighting, my husband has encountered it as well, not for fibro but for other things. It's easy to forget, since women's health issues are often disregarded, that men experience this in different ways too.
