Thanks so much, Jessica! I definitely feel like this year is different, even though I started to have some of the same feelings. I am better prepared to handle them because of the work I’ve done throughout this year.

Carbs are tricky. As part of my recovery, I’m not supposed to label foods “good” or “bad”, nor am I supposed to cut out entire food groups. But, I’ve noticed that since I’ve been allowing myself to eat whatever I want (paying attention to how my body responds to what I’m putting in it) and taking “dieting” out of the equation, I feel best when I cut back on wheat and sugar. I don’t have a huge sweet tooth so the sugar part’s easy, except at the holidays. But I do love me some bread and pasta! So I’m basically listening to my body and minimizing the amount of wheat I eat, without going overboard. If I’m at a restaurant and there’s a delicious warm bread basket, I am going to indulge! And I still make pasta from time to time, just not as often as I used to. It is such a balancing act, though, and I’m relieved that my body is actually telling me what to do at this point!

Life’s a journey. Sometimes a peaceful hike in the woods, sometimes a screaming joyride down a dark highway. I’m on a quest to discover my truth by sharing it.
